First scratchbuilt warehouse

Hi all.

I had to start building things to my layout.

So this is the first warehouse, that will be served by rail, but also to set the cars for a op session. This side of the layout is meant to be the fiddle yard.

This is the first four wall building I ever made from scratch and I happy with the results. I still need to build the canopy, but the main building is almost done. I also need to do is the concret platform. I don't like what I have done so far... it's a Work In Progress!!! :)

I used Evergreen V-Groove pattern for the walls, laminated with plain styrene. This was to give some strenght to the walls. Next, I've done the rolling gates using Metal Siding, also from Evergreen.

All was painted with Vallejo Model Air, using the airbrush (Just love to paint with this tool). After all was painted and glued together, I finished the roof with some fine N scale ballast.

When I get to build the canopy, I'll also add some black show boxes to the doors, so that I can also add some figures and some details bits like crates and boxes, without having to do too much interior detail.

Tive que começar a construir qualquer coisa para a maqueta.

Comecei por fazer um armazém, que será servido pela ferrovia, mas também para preparar vagões para uma sessão de operação. Este lado da maqueta é suposto ser uma gare "fantasma" mas con decoração.

Esta foi a primeira estrutura que construí de raíz, com quatro paredes, e fiquei feliz com os resultados. Ainda preciso de construir o telheiro, assim como a plataforma. Não estou a gostar do efeito até agora, é um trabalho em progresso!!! :)

Usei folhas Evergreen com o V-Groove para as paredes em metal, laminadas com placas lisas. Fiz isto para dar alguma rigidez ás paredes. Usei Metal Siding para os portões.

Pintei tudo com as tintas Vallejo Model air, com aerógrafo. Terminei o telhado com balastro em Escala N. 

Quando conseguir construir o telheiro, vou também acrescentar umas caixas escuras às portas, de forma a que possa acrescentar algum detalhe e movimento, sem ter que acrescentar muito detalhe interior à estrutura.

Track layed

Hi all.

I have been busy laying track and making the wiring. While the 2nd isn't a pretty sight, the 1st one is more appealing.

So, I am using MicroEngineering code 70 track, and the plan I decided to stick with a version of Palmetto Spur from Lance Mindheim. While Lance makes the fiddle yard not part of the layout (on right), I will make it a part of the layout, just add scenery. I don't know if I will make a bridge, or some warehouses not rail served.

So, back to the track laying. I added some playwood between the two modules, so that I could add some copper clad sleepers so that the track at the end of each module could be more secure.

Andei a assentar via e a fazer as ligações eléctricas. Enquanto a 2ª fase não é bonita, a 1ª é mais apelativa.

Estou a usar carril da MicroEngineering código 70, e  decidi usar uma versão do Palmetto Spur do Lance Mindheim. Enquanto o Lance usa uma gare fantasma desmontável, eu decidi que a mesma iria ser parte do layout, para adicionar cenário. Ainda não decidi se será uma ponte, ou uns quantos armazéns que não serão servidos por vagões.

Então, decidi acrescentar uns pedaços de contraplacado entre os módulos, de forma a que pudesse colocar solipas em circuito impresso, de forma a que a união entre os carris dos módulos fosse mais robusta.

Vamos ver algumas fotos.

Here is the track and the copper sleepers. Notice that between the two modules is a strip of styrene. This has the width of my cutting disk, to prevent a big gap when the modules are connected together. The is idea is explained in detail by M.C. Fujiwara / A via e as solipas de cobre. Notem que está u pedaço de estireno entre os módulos. Tem a espessura do disco de corte. Isto será para previnir uma falha entre carris depois do corte feito. A ideia é explicada ao detalhe pelo M.C. Fujiwara.

The sleepers had to be trimmed and a gap was done at the center / As solipas foram cortadas e foi feito um golpe no centro.

The styrene was removed, and now you can see the result. / O estireno foi removido, e agora poderão ver o resultado.

Track is layed and the wiring is done. Now, let's run some TRAINS!!!! / A via foi assente, e o circuito eléctrico feito. Agora, vamos movimentar COMBOIOS!!!!

 Este é uma primeira tentativa de videos sobre modelismo ferroviário. Não sou nenhu mestre, mas apenas tentarei partilhar convosco as minhas conclusões e ideias enquanto modelista ferroviário.

Estou aberto ás vossas criticas e sugestões.
